2017-04-24 CMH Sales and Leasing 169 Hartzel Rd., St. Catharines, Ontario L2P 1G2 Mr. Phil Engs Re: (2011 GMC Terrain) On (2016-07-18) I purchased a motor vehicle from your dealership (2011 GMC Terrain, VIN 2CTALSEC0B6325899). Unfortunately, the vehicle has not been satisfactory due to no oil in the engine. This problem started once the car was driven off your lot. I brought the car into Julies Auto, on Sept 2016 for its first scheduled oil change. I was informed then by their mechanic that the car had no oil in the engine, even though it was brought in prior to the scheduled oil change with 8% left on the oil life gauge and two weeks ahead of the 5000 km scheduled oil change date. The car had been running rough and lost most of its power at this point as well, due to no oil in the engine. We were told by Julies Auto mechanic that it was possibly a rear seal and the motor was essentially no good anymore and would have to be replaced. It was at this time I contacted CMH in hopes of resolving this issue amicably as the car was just bought from them and, hadn’t even had its first oil change completed. This was met with animosity from CMH Auto sales right from the start, and the issue was only addressed after I started a comprehensive social media slogan and, filing complaints through various agencies such as the BBB etc against Mr. Engs and his company. My family and I, reluctantly and, CMH Auto sales came to an agreement, that CMH Auto Sales would change the motor with a used motor from a scrap dealer friend of theirs and, we would be on the hook for another one thousand dollars, to cover this cost of the motor change labor. The vehicle was dropped off at CMH on October 18th 2016 and they transported it to their friends, who would do the engine change on CMH’s behalf. We retrieved the car a week latter and proceeded to drive it. The car was then brought in to Minute Lube on Hartzel Rd in St, Catharines for its next scheduled 5000 km oil change. It was at that time I was informed by Minute Lube staff there was no oil left in the supposedly new (used) engine that had just been replaced. As per the guidelines in the Consumers Protection Plan of Ontario, we feel the salesman misrepresented CMH, by not disclosing to us that the Terrain has had these problems. The salesman stated to me and my wife, after I had enquired about the size of the motor and my worries about the vehicle not having AWD “that the Terrain had one of the best motors and drive trains that GM made”. He never disclosed the oil problems that supposedly exist with these vehicles. CMH through their emails to me have disclosed they were aware of these problems and said nothing about it. I rely on my car for transportation and apart from the inconvenience, and this problem has also caused me to incur additional cost .At this point I will be taking further action to resolve this unresolved complaint through the court system. I will also be creating a Face book page as well as a webpage detailing the events of the situation. I will also use every avenue of social media at my disposal to enlighten the masses on what kind of business you are running. Along with this I will be walking outside your business with a placard and leaflets, letting everyone know the details of what has transpired regarding this situation. Let me know how business goes after that. In closing, CMH and Mr. Engs have passed this problem onto G.M. stating in their emails to me that I should be going after General Motors and not CMH. I did not buy the car from General Motors, Mr. Engs, I purchased it from your establishment.. Kevin Zeoli
